Travelling Folder Card

Hello and happy Saturday. Today I have a card for you that is a card within a card, and a folder too. It's meant to give to someone special - like your son or daughter who is going on a trip. My daughter did just that awhile ago and I wish I would have thought of this then. You can put things in the folder, like a gift certificate to an eating place, stamps, money and I also made a small bookmark . These stamps are from Sheena's Destination Set. Stop by Crafter's Companion site to see there other wonderful products.

Trim an 11 by 8 1/2 sheet of Tan card stock to 9 by 7.
Score  at 4 1/2 and 5 3/4 using The Ultimate Tool. Cut a V as shown. I made this folder slightly bigger so everything would fit in it comfortably. You can adjust as you want.

Press flaps up and secure with paperclips or you could staple also.
I added the "Happiness' quote  (upper left) and also the "To Sail" quote on the right flap.
Travel was spelled out on the left flap with some stick on alphabet tags

Inside the folder are the goodies. There is a bookmark sponged with three Distress Inks. You will need a bookmark for the book you read on the plane!  I used Tumbled Glass, Shabby Shutters and Mustard Seed to sponge the bookmark that was cut out with tan card stock  and a die. I added some stick on flowers and a travel ribbon to the bookmark. There is also some twine that matches the front of the folder.
Besides the bookmark are some stamps (who sends postcards anymore?) a gift certificate and of course some cash! To the left is the card with " have fun" wishes inside.

This is the Travel card which is sponged with the same inks as above. The same travel ribbon is used and photo corners are added to two opposite corners. It is mounted to a lighter cream and then dark brown card. All are layered to a folded lighter cream card.

This is the front of the folder. The image is divided and layered to lighter cream card stock. The same inks were used to sponge the background on a cream colored card. Two lengths of twine were added to the top part of the card and taped to the backs of the card. The split images were then mounted and I also notched two opposite corners of the sponged card. This card was layered to a dark brown card and then all were layered to the tan folder.

Hope you enjoyed this Traveling folder. Come back next week and also check out the other designer's cards.
