Christmas Kisses

Hello everyone!  It's Taylor here today, welcoming you to another Saturday...I love Saturdays!  Crafter's Companion has released twelve (yes...twelve!) new stamp sets this week, in the Strawberry Kisses line.  They're all holiday themed, and they are beyond cute!  I love them so much, I have two different cards to share today (I could not decide what to color first)!

To start, I'm sharing two versions of the same card - one is "stepped up" a bit.  I inked up the Christmas Fairy set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and stamped it on Ultra Smooth White card stock.  I colored her with my Spectrum Noir markers (full list below, so keep reading!).

Can you spot the difference in the two pictures?  I took the second on (shown above) first, and as I was looking through my camera lens it dawned on me....fairies NEED sparkle.  It's like a requirement, I think!  So I got out some Eucalyptus Stickles and added them to her wings. Voila - the card is totally different.  Which version do you like better?

Here's that list of the Spectrum Noir markers I used on this card:

Kitty - BG4, BG2, BG1 (cheeks/ears/foot: CR3, FS2)
Wings: LG1, LG2, LG4
Crown: PP1, PP3, GB4, GB2
Shadow: BGR3, BGR2, BGR1

My coloring was inspired by this beauty I spotted recently on Leann Chivers' blog (she's the creative genius behind my beloved Spectrum Noir markers).

My second card today uses the Just for You stamp set.  I think that stack of prezzies is so fantastic!  I once again colored this with my Spectrum Noir markers:

Bottom Present: DG2, DG3, DG4, CR6, CR7, CR8
Middle Present: TN1, TN2, BGR1, BGR2, IG1, BT1, BT2, BT4
Top Present: BT1, BT2, CR6, CR7, CR8
Puppy: TN1, TN2, TN3, TN4, TN7, EB1, EB2, EB7

To color the puppy, I adapted this great tutorial from Wendy Foster, who is part of the Spectrum Noir team.  Basically, I colored the whole puppy with TN1, and then added small squiggles and dots of the darker TN colors. Once I was satisfied with the coverage, I blended it all with TN2.  It's a great way to create a fur texture!

This second card also qualifies for the September Challenge over at the Crafter's Companion US Challenge Blog!  See those polka dots and stripes?  It's all about them this month!  You could totally win a $30 gift certificate to the store, so head over and check out all the details!
