Tutorial: Coloring Pumpkins with Pencils

This fabulous background, created by embossing our Shimmering cardstock, is perfect to set off the pumpkins colored with Spectrum Noir blendable pencils! See how Trena did it in her wonderful tutorial below.

Step 1: Emboss a piece of Black Pearl Shimmering cardstock using the Sheen Douglass Silhouette Lane embossing folder.

Step 2: Stamp image on to Ultra Smooth White cardstock. Using the darkest shade (024) color the outer parts of each pumpkin.

Step 3: Next add the mid-tone shade (022) to the middle parts of the pumpkins, coloring just over the darker shade.

Step 4: Fill in the rest with the lightest shade (021). Notice I'm not blending yet, just filling the rest of the image.

Step 5: After I finished filling in color, I came back in with the lightest shade again (021) and also white (001) to blend. Do this in in small, gentle, smooth circles.

Step 6: Color pumpkin stems with 048 and 045.

Step 7: Give the fence a touch of shading with 115.

Step 8: Fussy cut the fence and attach it to the embossed background with dimensional circles.
