Tutorial: Valentine Milk Carton

We're one month away from Valentine's Day and Kendra is helping you get started on projects with this super sweet milk carton box using the fun Sweet Treats Boards and CD-ROM!

Here's what you'll need to complete this project:

Also used: Die’sire Essentials Oval Die  | Ribbon  |  Clear Acetate  |  ¼” Hole Punch

And here's how to put it together:

Step 1: Trim both sheets of Construction Cardstock to 8 ¼” x 12”.

Place one sheet on the Special Treats board and score the large milk carton lines. Cut out with scissors then fold and burnish the score marks.

Then repeat with the second piece of Construction Cardstock to complete the box.

NOTE: There are 2 sizes of milk cartons on this board.  For the large milk carton, score the outside lines.

Step 2: Using two sheets of 8 ½” x 11 white cardstock, print one of the patterns from the Sweet Treats CD-ROM.

For this project, the coordinated paper has been selected from the Design Elements section of the Sweet Treats CD-ROM.

Trim the printed paper to fit the panels of the milk carton.

Step 3: Using the largest Die’sire Essentials oval die, cut out an oval from the front of both pieces of cardstock.

Step 4: To create the frame for the window, take the largest two oval dies and place them inside each other. Trim a piece of acetate and attach to the inside of the milk carton over the oval opening.

Glue the frame to the acetate opening.

Step 5: To assemble the carton, add glue to the flaps of the milk carton to attach.

Cut two squares of cardstock measuring 3 ¼” x 3 ¼”.

Glue one to the inside of the carton base and the other to the outside for extra stability.

Step 6: Punch two holes in the top of the box using a ¼” hole punch and thread ribbon through to close the box together. Tie in a bow to keep closed.

Finish decorating the box by adding ribbon around the top and bottom edges.

Step 7: Add a stamped sentiment and embellishments such as trims, buttons and die cut shapes.
